NOVEMBER 18, 2017

Attendance (12):  Gary Herrnreiter, Karen Kolb, Carole Casterline, Karen Saona, Ron Leiser, Mike Day, Herb Hough, Pr. Brenda Maynor, Thomas Johnson, John Knipler, Martha Kutas, Tom Kutas

Tom Kutas opened the meeting with a prayer at 9:03AM.   The minutes of the October meeting were approved as written.

Finance Report:  Mike Day provided copies of the committee’s funds going forward from January 2, 2017 through October 29, 2017 including income, expenses, profits and loss.  The balance in the fund stands at $1037.79 as of November 18, 2017.  This money will be used to supplement the Christmas boxes for the needy and for assistance with LCLC camperships.

Hospitality Committee:  No report

Property Committee Liaison:  Gary Herrnreiter reported a number of miscellaneous items:  the memorial area being constructed around the flag pole will be completed in the spring; the house next-door will have roof repair work done in the spring and the insurance policies will be reviewed in light of the completion of those repairs; energy efficiency of the church campus will also be looked at in the spring.  Ron Leiser advised the committee that the responsibility for removal of the spring plantings around the church property will be handled by John Bush.

October 29, 2017 Oktoberfest: Tom Kutas distributed a summary of the event.  An estimated one hundred twenty-two people attended.  The control of entrance to the event needs to be managed better in the future.  A profit of $206.86 will be used as indicated above in the Finance Report.  Tom indicated that the profit was lower than last time due to an increase in the cost of food.  Ron Leiser recommended doing away with the family rate, which some committee members feel was a source of confusion.  Ticket costs should be reviewed.  Gary Herrnreiter knows of Alpine horn players who could possibly play at the next Oktoberfest.

December 19, 2017 Carrier Dome event:  Mike Day stated that it has been cancelled due to limited interest.  The possibility of attending a basketball game at UB (vs. St. Bonaventure) on Saturday, December 2nd is being considered.  Mike is investigating other sporting event tickets.

December 3, 2017 Church Greening:  The trees will be put in place on Saturday, the 2nd in preparation for the decorating on Sunday after the 10:30 service.

December 13, 2017:  Ten Christmas boxes for the needy will be prepared at 6:00PM.  Gift cards valued at $50.00 each from Price Rite will be added to the boxes.  Distribution will take place on December 18th.

Spring, 2018 Fine Art Event:  Details need to be worked out.

June, 2018 Father’s Day celebration and Road Rally:  The Road Rally will be held on June 16th at 4:00PM.  Jen Yap, who designs the route, has created an information/registration form for participants.  A scavenger hunt will be part of the rally.  The cost will be $20.00 to help cover the cost of dinner and other expenses.

July, 2018:  Plan golf tournament date.  Craig Johnson recommends holding it on Monday rather than Saturday.

October 3, 2018 Pet Blessing:  Pr. Maynor stated that the turn out for this event is better on Wednesday than Saturday.  She will again bless the pets.

December 9, 2018 Christkindlmarkt:  Tom Kutas stated that more time is needed for the crafters and artists to prepare.  Registration forms will be sent to our cluster churches.

There was no new business to discuss.

The next meeting is scheduled on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 9:00AM in Redeemer Hall.

A freewill donation of $6.00 was collected.

The meeting closed with The Lord’s Prayer at 9:53AM.
