Mission Statement

Holy Trinity is a welcoming community which is:
Dedicated to keeping Jesus Christ and His Cross at the center of all worship, work and witness.
Determined to meet human needs with a Christian faith translated into the language of a living word for all people through adherence to traditional Lutheran worship, an extensive music program, quality education and Christian fellowship.
Committed to transmit its Christian witness to all people regardless of language, ethnic origin, race, gender, or sexual orientation.
Pledged to involvement in the life of greater Buffalo as well as its immediate neighborhood.
Encouraged by growing ecumenical opportunities, numerous area-wide programs and liturgical and congregational renewal.

Brief History of Holy Trinity

The story of Holy Trinity began in 1879 when a group of German Lutherans met in a French Protestant Church and determined to use the English language in their worship, teaching, and ministry. It was a kind of Pentecost-experience: a faith shared in a way which leaped across language barriers. We emerged through our exciting formative years into a vigorous congregation, influenced the establishment of eight other congregations, involved Holy Trinity's life and purpose in the expanding and changing city, strengthened our congregation's Gospel witness even in times of wars and civil disturbance, and pledged to continue as a creative, courageous and innovative metropolitan congregation.

This is our faith tremendous,
Our wild hope, who shall scorn,
That in the name of Jesus,
The world shall be reborn.
